Post 432: Upcoming Art Shows for 2026

2026 Art Shows

The art show season begins early in the year, perhaps depending on where you live, it is year around. Nonetheless, there are art shows scheduled throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall that I, along with many of the other area artists enter faithfully every year. And some shows spring up with little or no advance warning on occasion, hence the need for some art inventory! Let's take a look at what is on my spidey art radar so far in 2026.

January 2026

Somehow, I did not paint anything new from the end of November 2025 until the beginning of February 2026. Sometimes you just have other things you must get done. I did not enter any shows but I heavily updated my Etsy page! Not sure WHY, but I had a very good January on Etsy too. Perhaps folks were spending their Christmas money.

February 2026

Did not enter any shows, but continued to update my Etsy page (on going).
Time to start submitting some art! I missed entering one of the shows at the Falls Church Arts group's gallery space. And the PWAS art group missed the Bluebell Festival Show too. I do like that art show!

March  2026

75th Annual Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show & Sale

April 2026

Applied to or submitted art to enter several shows. Just because you pay to enter, doesn't necessarily mean that your art is accepted to show in many of these shows. They are juried (which means someone selects what will show).

ARTfactory in Manassas, VA. The Prince William Art Society will have a member art show with the theme of "Nostalgia" coming up. I'll be looking through my inventory and painting some new art to enter this show.

Time to start thinking about the fall seasonal shows and applying to them. The Fall Tall Oaks Show, the Fall Art at the Mill, and Annual Piedmont Regional Show at The Plains calls for art will come out in August and September.

November 2026

The Fall ARTfactory show may be on the calendar again. This used to be the Artist Inventory Sale.

December 2026

PWAS Art Group has a members only Christmas party and do not meet.

Any art shows are TBD. As updates to the schedule occur, I'll update this blog!

Art Inventory

You quickly realize as an artist that you do need a LOT of inventory to enter shows, for several very important reasons:

• Many art shows do not want you to resubmit art they have seen before. This means you need to track ALL of your art and where its been and when.
• Some art shows have themes, so your work needs to clearly "fit" the display they are promoting for their guests. This means that you may end up with a lot of art that is for specific types of shows - for better or worse.
• Artists gotta create and try new things, so its an ongoing NEED to make new art. Storing all that art begins to be a challenge in many a studio or home.
• If an artist is scheduling a solo art show, the artist will need a cohesive body of work that the art space/gallery will display in a way that 'tells a story'.
• Often, size does matter when it comes to art, which is a blessing and a curse in calls for art shows. Watching the size restrictions - both minimum and maximum sizes may shut out not only some of your art, but artists that only work large, or potentially work very small.

PWAS Fall Tall Oaks Art Show Sat Nov 1 

An art show right in the Lake Ridge Community, rain or shine, come see the art created by local artists on Saturday, November 1 from 10am to 5pm. 12298 Cotton Mill Drive on the corner of Hedges Run and Cotton Mill. Open to everyone, art from various artists from the Prince William Art Society!

We know everyone is busy, but take a little time out of your busy Saturday of errand running and see the art show right in Woodbridge, in the area of Lake Ridge - just up from Occoquan. Just off Old Bridge Road, where the Giant is, come down Hedges Run and at the first intersection is Cotton Mill Drive - you'll see Tall Oaks right across the street. 

Local artists with a variety of art, art subjects, mediums and styles - we love meeting our visitors!

Art Shows Coming Up in Occoquan, Lake Ridge, Manassas, and Harkers Island

What a busy art season! Scattered around PWC, in Occoquan, in Manassas, and here in Lake Ridge and at Harkers Island, NC, art shows with my art as well as my art friends and group members are on display for you to see and enjoy. Here is a list of some upcoming art shows around the area.

PWAS Fall Tall Oaks Saturday, November 1 10-5

This is a biannual art show that the Prince William Art Society hosts at 12298 Cotton Mill Road, Woodbridge, VA - on the corner of Hedges Run and Cotton Mill (where the pool is and down from the Giant on Old Bridge Rd). This show is rain or shine and features lots of local artists from PWAS. I will be there too with mini art and bookcase art. You can click on an image to enlarge.

Manassas ARTfactory "What the Walls Remember" Saturday, October 11 - November 8, 2025

Currently running, "What the Walls Remember" is an art show at the ARTfactory that is well worth seeing at the ARTfactory in Manassas. One of my artworks called "Blood Orange" is dripping off the walls.

The Fall Gallery Walk on Saturday, November 8 is all over the downtown Manassas area, and I'll be at the Sinistral Brewing Company at 9419 Main St, Manassas, VA 20110 - Look for the balloons announcing that an artist is in the shop/location. This show at the Manassas ARTfactory is the previously named "Artist Inventory Sale" and the Prince William Art Society will have some members there showing art, including me! This was a very cool show last year when we were at the ARTfactory and we are glad to be a part of it again this year. It is a one-day art event.

December 6 Holiday Vendor Show at the Harkers Island Fire Station, NC

In December, I will be on Harkers Island at the Harkers Island Fire Station Vendor Show on Saturday, December 6 during the Decoy Festival 1219 Island Rd, Harkers Island, NC 28531. I've been showing art across the road for 2 years and loved meeting all the visitors! But this year I will be at the Fire Station across from the Elementary School which hosts the annual Decoy Festival.

I'll have artworks featuring Harkers Island marshes, Shackleford Banks and the ponies, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, North Carolina and so much more - mini art, prints and bookcase art too!

What's on My Radar this Fall?

Let's see what art shows and events are coming up that I have on my radar with the Prince William Art Society (PWAS), like the annual Fall Tall Oaks Art Show on Saturday, Oct 5, with the Crossroads Arts Alliance at the Haymarket Museum Oct 6, and at other area art shows.

Art at the Mill Sept 21 to Oct 6, 2024

I currently have art up at Art at the Mill in Milwood, VA which is ongoing. The Artists Reception was Sunday, Sept 29, 2024 from 2 to 5 and there were plenty of art friends there! Along with some fellow Prince William Art Society members, Sandra McClelland Lewin and Bettie Sperty with their significant others, it was a nice afternoon seeing other area artists like Mike Flynn and Maureen Guillot, and Ann McCarty amongst so many others. Tons of fantastic art to browse! Nothing much better to than to be so inspired by all the great ideas and seeing the A M A Z I N G art up on the walls.

When you get there on the reception day, the artists get their name tags so they are easily recognized. Then the hunt begins. FIND your art!

It is rather overwhelming. Even when they have already sold a LOT of art the last week, that's still a LOT of art on the walls.

Donna is currently showing in the Art at the Mill show at the Burwell Morgan Mill, 15 Tannery Lane, Millwood, VA until October 6. See the web Gallery here (this link becomes active when the show begins and will eventually expire). A great hint is to really have a look at the link while its live to see what is selling, the price points, and the subjects.

I found Charcuterie Board next to where the wine was being served....very appropriate.

Sometimes you have to look low, sometimes very high: Spring at Merrimac Farm is high overhead.

Unfortunately the Mill was not actually running today - awwww.

Sandra sold 2 of her 3 paintings entered, congratulations!! And obviously, we had to find her fox painting low on the wall!

PWAS Annual Fall Tall Oaks Art Show Oct 5, 2024

Local PWAC artist Donna Liguria will be at the Prince William Art Society's Fall Tall Oaks show on Saturday, October 5 with her paintings, prints and her very popular Mini and Bookcase Art Paintings. The local art group, the Prince William Art Society (PWAS) sponsors the bi-annual Spring and Fall Tall Oaks Art Show, so this Saturday's art show is on Oct 5 from 11 to 5pm. It is right here in Lake Ridge, on the corner of Cotton Mill and Hedges Run, just off of Old Bridge Road. Rain or shine.

Crossroads Art Alliance in Haymarket, VA Oct 6-Nov 15, 2024

My painting of "Gunston Hall" which is part of my Virginia Historic Home Series will be in the Crossroads Art Alliance "Hometown" show at the historic Haymarket Museum at 15025 Washington St, Haymarket, VA 20169 from Oct 5- Nov 15.

I've lived all over Virginia so my 'hometowns' have varied over the years, hence one of my nearby historic Virginia homes was entered. Have you been to it yet?

Piedmont Regional Art Show Oct 18-20, 2024 at the Plains

The 76th Annual Piedmont Regional Art Show is held at the Grace Episcopal Church, The Plains, Virginia from Friday, October 19 to Sunday, October 20th. I will have several paintings at this show held at 6507 Main St PO Box 32, The Plains, Virginia. The exquisite Artist Reception Gala is Friday, October 18 and begins at 5:30pm. There is a $30 admission fee and that begins at 6:30pm.

Artist Inventory Sale at the ARTFactory on Dec 7, 2024

ARTFactory on Dec 7 will be the home of this year's fall Artist Inventory Sale and I plan on attending this show as well. Mike Flynn is working with Jordan Exum at the ARTFactory to have this show -indoors!!!- which will be a very WELCOME change. The weather has not been cooperative for several of the last spring and fall shows at the Harris Pavilion in Manassas.
