What Brought About this Painting?

I have run into a lot of people that say that sunflowers are their favorite flower over the years. A friend of mine went to Italy with her husband a few years ago and showed me pictures of the fields of sunflowers that she saw there that she admired so much. 

So this painting is a tribute to the admirers of the sunny big-faced sunflowers that come in a lot of shapes, colors and sizes - the yellows, oranges, reds, browns, blacks and green foliage.

 "A Flower by Any Other Name" is a take off of "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" which is a popular reference to William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Let me know if a Sunflower has a smell or not, I don't recall. But they do make you smile don't they?

And there are so many different types! God is certainly creative!

I recently painted not one but 2 Sunflower pictures - well practice, practice, right? Slight variations in a theme.
