The Reference Photos Taken at Harkers Island

It fascinated me to read up on those dead trees you see in the background. They are called "Ghost Trees" and they occur because of the continuous exposure of the tree's root system to the saltwater.  Here are some of the reference photos I took.

Now, let's get this painting in gear.

What Brought About this Painting?

One morning while visiting my friend at her home on Harkers Island in July 2023, we went for a walk with her neighbor on the side of the island near the bridge. I couldn't help myself, as I fell farther and farther behind their pace. There were just soo many great pictures to take. Reference photos, you know. This will be a combination of a couple of photos I took along the road (above).

Painting in Progress Images…

After doing a base color of light blue yesterday (Thursday, August 24, 2023), this morning I started taking this painting seriously and filled in where I wanted it to go. Let the games begin...

Friday, August 25, 2023 8:50pm I made a lot of progress today, but if you stay tuned, you'll see where I'm going with this.

Sunday, August 27, 2023 11:00 am...almost there...

Sunday, August 27, 2023 12:30pm Think this little painting is done. What do you think?

After 2 trips to Harkers Island, North Carolina this spring and summer, the influence of the area is most assuredly reflected in my current art trends. And I have many more ideas in my head to do...who knows...the annual Harkers Island Decoy Festival is coming in December...There's a thought.

Post 51: Ocean Waves Rolling Along 11x14 Acrylic on Canvas

Painting Name: Ocean Waves Rolling Along

SKU:  01H21ACG
Medium:  Acrylic
Size:  11x14 Gallery Wrapped Stretched Canvas
Framed?: No
Edition Year: 2021
Commissioned? No

About this Painting…

1/18/21 Final tweaking happening now but this is very close to IT. This was a smaller canvas, 11x14, but I really want to do a larger version of a rolling ocean soon. I think ocean artwork speaks to most people, how about you?

I'm really going to need to work on better photographs too. My cell phone does not do any of my painting justice - the colors are far more intense in person.

I've been wanting to paint ocean waves for a long time so I'm starting one off; a smaller one first. Hopefully a larger version soon after.

I just started this painting this morning (January 17, 2021) and periodically I need to feel the ocean spray and aim this at myself...

1/18/21 Progress as of 10 am today:

Always did love this song...
Anyway, here it is November 6, 2020 - and here in the USA it has been traumatic. Sailing Away has been on a LOT of minds this week.
OR
"Calgon Take Me Away" might have worked too but I am NOT painting the idea of that.

Painted it - 2 shots while on the easel

NOTE: This painting is on display at TG Hair FX at Belmont Bay across from the Marina  starting from Feb. 3, 2021

Post 9: She Sells Seashells Down by the Seashore 11 x 14 Acrylic

Painting Name: A Seashore Day

SKU: #09G20AC
Medium: Acrylic Painting
Size: 11 x 14 Stretched Canvas
Price: No Longer Available
Edition Year: 2020
Beach painting with sand dunes, grass, waves coming in and a big blue sky.

She may find some seashells here. She would definitely catch a tan anyway.

I rather like painting seaside, beach pictures, they talk to me. Especially during lockdowns, lock outs, and cold, windy days.
