Art Prints of My Paintings is an Option
Ever so slowly, I am learning to create art prints of selected artworks from my painting inventory. It is an interesting education which INCLUDES:
1. Learning how to use my new Nikon Coolpix B500 Camera - because I know I need better quality pictures at the very first.
2. Learning how to best use my Epson Expression Premium EcoTank Wireless 5-Color All-in-One Supertank Printer with Scanner, Copier and Ethernet - which is needed in general, but I wanted to create at least my own smaller sized prints.
3. Learning how to use Photoshop and Lightroom - I have used PS some in the past at work but not to this degree.
4. Learn the details of the world of art prints - from the acronyms, how to number them, how to sign them, how to package and how to ship them.
Art prints are a good option for the art seller and the art buyer. If the original has already sold, the artist can make some income from the print of that artwork. If an original painting is out of budget for the art buyer, an art print presents a more affordable way to "collect" something from an artist that is liked.
In between the learning of art print construction, art photography, art editing and art marketing, I paint a bit.
I will also need a collection of prints for sale at art shows and for Clearbrook Center of the Arts at Tackett's Mill in Woodbridge, VA. This is where PWAS - Prince William Art Society members hang some of their selected artworks and prints. The selections change bi-monthly and this is what it looks like at the moment...Let's take a walk through the gallery...
Clearbrook Center of the Arts entrance (to the left) is located at Tackett's Mill on the lower side, in Woodbridge, Virginia. It is only about a mile away from Occoquan up Old Bridge Road and not far from 95 at all. The hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 pm.
The "Patriotic and Monuments" Theme Wall at Clearbrook Center of the Arts is to your immediate right as you come in the door. The Theme Wall changes bimonthly and next month's theme is "Gatherings" for July and August.
The upstairs is currently not in use by PWAS. Bi-Monthly many of the PWAS members will change out some if not all, of their artwork. So it is ever changing, especially if something sells!
My animal fur skin pattern series plus "Tiger Face", minus the Giraffe fur (that one sold).
Zebra Skin Pattern by Donna Liguria, is a framed 10x10 acrylic on stretched canvas. It was part of a series of animal fur/skin pattern paintings.
One of the rooms at Clearbrook. The center painting of the egrets is by Sandra McClelland Lewin, I love her work! My "Great Falls" and "Island Paradise in a Red Dress" flank her larger painting.
Ken Meardon's photos on canvas and photos on ceiling fan blades!
Another room at Clearbrook with a sitting area.
Sitting area continued.
A part of what PWAS does annually is offer a scholarship program to high school students. Unfortunately, with Covid affected the school systems so drastically in 2020 and 2021, a scholarship could not be awarded with the chaos of the "school from home" mandate. We all hope that 2022 will truly be back to "normal" whatever that is now/then.
"Spring in Occoquan" by Donna Liguria is a 10x10 framed acrylic on stretched canvas.
The PWAS theme wall as you come in the front door is located on the immediate right - and the theme until the end of June is "Patriotic and Monuments". This one is my "America Backs the Blue".
As you can see, there is quite a variety of art works and styles. And those folding stands hold different artist's prints too.
Of course, seeing an artwork IN PERSON is the best course of action. The camera, the internet, the pixels, the PC or the phone you view artwork from just does not do the art justice. But for those that I know that do not live close by, at least you get an idea of what Clearbrook looks like.
Check out the PWAS website with the artist gallery section to see some samples of some of the members
In finishing this post up...
I would be interested to hear from you if you have seen an artwork of mine and would be interested in an art print if the original is not in the cards at this time. They say it is a good way to get your foot in the door. If you know the size of work, that would be good to know too.
