What Brought About this Painting?

I started painting bees yesterday and I have done 4 so far. So this is therefore, the Busy Bee Series.

Honey Bees are the "sweetest of bees" in that they are best known for their honey production and crop pollination and have been "domesticated" for that purpose. They are certainly welcome in my garden for the tomatoes, melons, eggplants and cucumbers pollination!

So the name of this painting is really, the bee at work. I wonder it they could call that commuting to work?

Busy Bee Series

From left to right, top down, all are 4x4 mini canvases, acrylic:
  1. Bee Flower Feast
  2. A Bumble Bee's Butt
  3. Buzz the Bee 2
  4. Honey Bee at Work

I may do some more, but I also have a cactus painting on the easel now too.

Post 138: Bee Series 1: Buzz the Bee, 4x5 Acrylic on Stretched Canvas

Painting Name: Buzz the Bee

Bumbles and Honey Bees welcome to my garden! There is a small store next to Clearbrook Center of the Arts at Tackett's Mill that is called The Bee Store. It is adorable. Everything having to do with bees. A lot of the traffic that comes through Clearbrook are going to or coming out of The Bee Store.

SKU: 06BW21ACL2
Medium: Acrylic
Size: 4x5 Stretched Canvas
Price: SOLD
Edition Year: 2021
Series: Busy Bee Series 1
Commissioned? No

What Brought About this Painting?
With a garden in my backyard this summer, and anyone that knows me well knows it is a small garden, it attracts the small creatures. A fence deters the larger ones. But "Buzz the Bee" is welcome here, any time.

I like doing small art. It's quick (usually) and cute in my opinion. Let me know what you thing too.

The Painting in Progress Images…

The first photo is the painting in progress with the final at the end.

I was thinking about that small warning on review mirrors: "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear". A friend that went with me to the PWAS 50th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 5, 2021 was very surprised when she finally viewed my artwork -in person- and said, "the phone really does NOT do the painting justice, does it?" And she is right, looking online, or on your phone does NOT do artwork justice at all.

I hope you know what I mean. It's not just the color rendering in a device to the human eye, but its also a bit of distortion in camera angles and probably a whole lot more than I can cover here. The beauty of an artwork is confirmed in being IN PERSON. At least, I am going with the notion that a "pretty painting" is best viewed in person, as well as a "bad" one if there is such a thing.

Meandering thought, there is art a person doesn't like, but does that make it bad? Anyway, seeing a piece of artwork in person DOES make a world of difference that a camera and displaying on the internet cannot replicate.

What Brought About this Painting?
The next theme for the Prince William Art Society (PWAS, pronounced "P-waz") is flora, fauna and gatherings...interesting combo. The word is that hopefully the art submitted is not the usual overdone, "still life painting pose"...so, in search of a not-the-usual (I hope) flower painting, I came up with bits of lavender.

Someone really needs to come up with paint floral fragrances that don't diminish over time - wouldn't that be a GREAT IDEA!!!????

This post will be a little different than some of my previous "Painting in Progress" posts, where I have the progress and the final all-in-one post.

Lovely Lavender, 6x6

Quotes about Lavender: To make a perfume, take some rose water and wash your hands in it, then take a lavender flower and rub it with your palms, and you will achieve the desired effect".
-Leonardo da Vinci
The air was fragrant with a thousand trodden aromatic herbs, with fields of lavender, and with the brightest roses blushing in tufts all over the meadows
-William C. Bryant
