The Orange Koi is close to being finished, I may tweak him a bit more.

What Brought About this Painting?

As stated above, the theme for January/February at Clearbrook Center of the Arts in Lake Ridge, VA - the art gallery for the Prince William Art Society, is simply the color Orange. Lots of things can be orange, although the brain at this time of year may go straight to pumpkins and the changing leaves.

Carrots, flowers, goldfish, some football, school or sports team's colors, basketballs, sometimes a sunrise or a sunset, fruit, some butterflies, some birds, cats (large and small), sweet potatoes and so much more - can all be orange. Or an abstract painting with orange in it for goodness sake! 

My thought went to Koi Fish as an entry for the Orange theme.

What Brought About this Painting?

It is something like the saying of "stop and smell the roses" to me, in that we should sometimes while walking, stop and look up at the trees. If you wear glasses, sometimes a safer thing to do if a bird happens to be directly overhead at the time, but usually the view of the looking up into the canopy of the trees overhead is a calming thing to me.

Post 193: 2 of My Paintings are Entered for Best of the Region 4!

Two of My Paintings Were Selected and  Entered in the Best of the Region 4!

Creative Brush is once again hosting the Best of the Region 4, which is sponsored by p-ART-ners and the Manassas Art Guild. The Best of the Region is a juried event with selections made last Friday, October 1, 2021 and I was notified that 2 of my 4 pieces were selected!
