Ladybug, Ladybug, Fly Away Home
Do you remember the childhood chant, sing-song:
Ladybug, Ladybug, fly away home,
Your house is on fire
And your children are gone?
A weird little ditty really. It was just a thing you said to encourage the cute little beetle with the polka dots to move along when they land on you to "shoo-away". Seems it was considered bad luck to swat at ladybugs. Anyway, ladybugs always did seem to be such "friendly, wee bugs" as opposed to some other types of insects.
