The Busy Bee Series of Paintings
I recently painted a series of paintings I am calling "The Busy Bee Series". These are (at least so far) mostly bumble bees, but I do have a honey bee flying through the canvases.
What brought about the Busy Bee Series?
This little painting started the breathtaking business of busy bees (say that 3 times fast to ward off being stung). I recently sold this painting at Clearbrook Center of the Arts through my PWAS group (go me!) so of course, I needed more bee paintings, right?

What makes a Paint Series?
For me, a paint series will probably consist of the same subject, painted one after the other, typically on the same size canvas. That would be a more true series than a lot of variations in canvas size.
For instance, in June and July I painted 4 different Blue Heron paintings. I sold the first one, tried to sell the second one but got a commission for a larger one and someone asked for a smaller one. I may end up calling that a series but the size of canvases were 2 at 10 by 20 inch, 1 at 15 by 30 inch and 1 at 5 by 7. The Busy Bee Series were all intentionally painted as a series and mostly of the same size or close to it.
Anyway, its a little thing. A painting is a painting, is a painting.
