Online Art Classes - Learn Something New Every Day!
Have a look around the internet and there are plenty of YouTube videos on art subjects and tutorials that are quite good. You can also sign up for paid courses from various professional artist sites and resources that are great too. But there are also art classes and demos that are well worth checking out from other sources as well.
Especially when the class is FREE! AND if they are offering a give-away!

I was recently contacted by Jerry's Artarama https://www.facebook.com/JerrysArtarama - I had listened that week's Tuesday Live Art Event: Jerry’s LIVE Episode #JL195: Rembrandt Watercolor “Special Effects Colors” given by Royal Talens Art Education Director Jeff Olson.
He covered the history of watercolors (that was fascinating) and he demoed the use of these very awesome watercolors that were spectacular - golds and pearl and iridescent and chameleon - they were so pretty! And depending on if you used regular white watercolor paper or a black watercolor paper - there was quite a difference on how those watercolors blossomed!
At the end, they had a give away of the wonderful watercolor Rembrandt Watercolor Half-Pan Specialty Colors Tin Set Of 12...
And I Won!
Pretty cool, eh?
Yes, I am doing that happy dance.
With all that being said, there is nothing like practicing the techniques you are interested in. If you were learning an instrument, you are not getting good at it unless you practice. I do believe in God-given talent but that never means you are perfect at all techniques and everything else behind what you are trying to do and learn.
I've heard some artists say they are more comfortable with painting sky but not with painting water. Or someone that is great at painting clouds but struggle with something else.
For me, I have shied away from painting people but this week's Jerry's Live was Episode #196: Gesture Figure Drawings with a Live Model - For All Levels https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/jl196
To begin and loosen up, the model did 4 poses - each one at 1 minute and you drew what you could in that timeframe.
Then the model did 2 poses - each one at 5 minutes, and you are able to capture more.
The last final pose was in 2 parts, 10 minutes each, giving the model a break in between.
Tada...here is my scrambling scribbles:
So check out the live events too while you pour over all those millions of YouTube videos...and maybe you will get a nice surprise like I did.
