Post 372: Delivering Art to Art at the Mill

Delivering Art to Art at the Mill

I was blessed to be juried into the Spring Art at the Mill show again this year! Two of my paintings were accepted to this show that begins on Saturday, April 26 and run through Sunday, MAY 11, 2025. The Artist's Reception will be on Sunday, May 4 from 2 to 5.

Over the River and Through the Woods

The Goddess of Glitter (Staci Blanchard) and I delivered our juried in art to the Art at the Mill show on Saturday, March 29, 2025 in Millwood, VA. It's a lovely drive and along the way (just so you know) from Woodbridge to the Mill are at least 4 wineries including the Three Fox Vineyard where the Prince William Art Society recently had an art show. Besides the lovely scenery along the way, there are certainly some great places to stop!

Text Here are a few pictures from our Mill visit on Saturday. Unfortunately the Mill was not in operation at the time we were there so no grinding. We recognized some of our fellow PWAS art group member's artworks up on the wall too!

The Art at the Mill show is well worth the adventure to see! Don't you agree?

Post 370: On the Run Acrylic Painting by Donna Liguria

On the Run Acrylic Painting by Donna Liguria

Another name that could have worked with this painting is The Zoomies. That's a good name for when a critter gets that urge to zip around here and there. That is what this group of four horses are doing in the shallow waters; splashing away.

That first love of horses, of courses.

Like it?

Post 369: Artist Reception at the 74th Fredericksburg Show

Artist Reception at the 74th Annual Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show and Sale

One of the earliest shows of the year in the Virginia 1-95 Northern Virginia corridor that I've taken a part in is a very nice art show in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This is the second year I've joined this show.

The 74th Annual Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show and Sale is Friday, March 14 - Sunday, March 16, at the Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal Street, Fredericksburg, VA. Lots of great art, lots of local to you Virginia artists, lots to see!

Wall to Wall, There's Art

Art media covers the gauntlet - oil, watercolor, acrylic, drawing, photography, 3-D sculpture, mixed media and misc too.

Art Drop off was on Monday, March 10 for Sandra McClelland Lewin and I. I know several other Prince William Art Society members were also in the show including Staci Blanchard (The Goddess of Glitter), Maria Briganti, Cassandra and Terry Sandin - whom we saw at the Art Reception.

The Artist Reception was on Thursday, March 13, 2025 6-8pm

What we really like about this show is that the artworks are displayed by Medium. A row front and back of Oil Paintings, a row of Acrylic Paintings, a row of Watercolors, Mixed Media, Drawings and so forth. The ribbons are awarded per medium.

I was totally fascinated with the Encaustic artwork in the Mixed Media row. These had to be seen in person to get the full gist of the beauty in them.

Lo and behold, the person that won Best in Show, Catherine Hillis, is the person PWAS had just onboarded as our juror for the upcoming "Best of the Region Fine Art Show and Sale" in the upcoming show scheduled for June 3-15 at the ARTfactory in Manassas, VA. The Call for Art for that show will be April 1-30, 2025. Her two art pieces are above and below.

This one called "Swan Lake" won a couple of ribbons, one of them being the "People's Choice" - it was gorgeous!

Proceeds from the show benefit the Women’s Club of Fredericksburg charitable programs and Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events programs.

Their preference is to have the prices of the artwork be affordable so they can be sure to raise funds...some of the artworks on display were pricey though. Artists CAN ask for what they want for a piece, absolutely...but...

Well anyway, the Show Dates were:

Friday, March 14, 2025, 10am–8pm

Saturday, March 15, 2025, 10am–6pm

Sunday, March 16, 2025, 10am–4pm

I missed getting a picture of the black panther someone did as soon as you enter the show floor located in the Oil Painting row. That was outstanding.

Look for this annual art show at the Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal Street in Fredericksburg, VA. The entry process is not juried, they have a top number of entries that once met, the entries stop.

Post 368: Session 2 Workshop Acrylic Landscape Water

Session 2 Workshop Water Acrylic Landscape

This was session 2 of a recently online painting acrylics workshop that I took and really enjoyed the process presented. The first day session was "Trees", the second was "Water" (this one), and the third was "Atmosphere".

Although I have been painting awhile, I figure you never know what you might learn new, and everyone's painting process is different. It was a challenge to learn how to paint a bit looser. And the art tips dropped here and there throughout the session were golden nuggets of info too. It's GREAT to have different perspective in painting.

Session 3 was 'Atmosphere' which was creating a foggy, wispy scene with mountains in the background and showing a clearer foreground. I got to listen to that workshop but as yet, have not painted that landscape. I hope to. Again, it was a nice challenge and fun to try to get the lights and darks, reflections, the underwater rocks and moving water.

What do you think?

Post 366: Three Fox Vineyards and Brewery plus Art

Three Fox Vineyards and Brewery plus Art

February 23, 2025. Some of the members of the Prince William Art Society met at the Three Fox Vineyards and Brewery located at 10100 Three Fox Lane, Delaplane, VA 20144 for a pleasant afternoon of seeing our art up on the Three Fox walls - upstairs, some great wine, brews, pizza, and enjoy our fellow art friends.

A Visit to Three Fox Vineyards and Brewery

If you have ever submitted and been accepted into the Art At The Mill biannual art show out in Clark County, if you're driving from PWC, you may have driven right past Three Fox Vineyards and Brewery. There are a couple of wineries along the way out to Milwood, VA.

The Prince William Art Society began their art show at Three Fox on Monday, December 16, 2024 and it will run until about mid-March. The PWAS members met on Sunday, February 23, 2025 to see the show, get some pictures and enjoy the big blue sky day.

Some pictures in and around Three Fox...

My "No One Can Teach Riding So Well As A Horse" painting. 18x24 in acrylic
And my painting called "Spring At Merrimac Farm" 16x20 in acrylic

Are you tempted to take a trip out to Three Fox?
