Post 475: PWAS Meeting August 24, 2026 Show and Tell

PWAS Meeting August 24, 2026 Show and Tell

Monday, August 24, 2026 7:30pm. The Prince William Art Society meets once a month on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:30pm at the Tall Oaks Community Center 12298 Cotton Mill Road, Lake Ridge, VA. The public is welcome to attend. Sometimes we have a guest speaker giving an art talk, at other times we may have a project or art group presentation, another time we might have Show and Tell. The members do love showing and telling about their art.

Artist's Show and Tell

The PWAS meetings are always interesting. We typically start with some sort of presentation, followed by a few snacks and chat, followed by the business meeting section of PWAS.

The upcoming Arts Alive Art Show is coming Sept 12 10-5pm.

The Fall Tall Oaks Art Show is scheduled for Sat, Oct 3 - time to be determined.

I didn't capture photos of everyone, but here is what I do have. Click on an image to enlarge.

Tom Payne showed his digital art and how he created it. That was pretty cool - to see some of the steps and all the work that goes into digital art making. Fascinating!!

Arlene had a grand display of portraits! This is just a couple of them.
Anna Gatling showing a smaller artwork.
David Dillon, Number 17 - sometimes you just HAVE to be at the meeting to get the reference.
Mrs. Bell showed an artwork that her husband had done where he wanted to achieve art that can be looked at one way, then turn it upside-down and its viewable that way too. That was pretty incredible.
Lizzy was viewing the meeting remotely and showed artwork, requesting feedback. Many suggestions were offered.
The Great and Magnificent Evelyn!
Sheri painted her high school for an upcoming project
Mark Murphy had a LARGE watercolor!
Robert Dew and Plein Air Painting
Kat Gates and her latest commission
Tes was showing various artworks inspired by what is currently growing in her yard.

I don't have a picture from last night of my turn to show, so here's what I presented:

Mount Vernon is a part of my Virginia Historic Home Series, 11x14 Acrylic
And this small, 4x4 acrylic artwork that I call Bookcase Art, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Finally, I didn't post anything from last month's meeting, but Tinnetta was the guest speaker and she gave a wonderful presentation on her incredible art journey.
