What Brought About this Painting?

I started painting bees yesterday and I have done 4 so far. So this is therefore, the Busy Bee Series.

Honey Bees are the "sweetest of bees" in that they are best known for their honey production and crop pollination and have been "domesticated" for that purpose. They are certainly welcome in my garden for the tomatoes, melons, eggplants and cucumbers pollination!

So the name of this painting is really, the bee at work. I wonder it they could call that commuting to work?

The painting "Buzz the Bee" sold recently at the Clearbrook Center of the Arts, so why not repeat a theme if it sells, right? This bee painting is the bumble bee flying away from the viewer so therefore, his wee butt.

What Brought About this Painting?

I really love to paint water, well, the challenge of painting water. Reflections in water are pretty interesting and hold challenges that can be daunting too. But a big wave coming in with light shining on it or through it and all the colors that can be dispersed - wowie.

What Brought About this Painting?

I was thinking this morning I would paint more ocean waves but then thought to add some sea birds. And what are sea birds ALWAYS doing? Looking for food. These two want Doritos in particular.

What Brought About this Painting?

I wanted to paint a series of old movie remembrances and this is the second one, with the first one being Dorothy's Ruby Slippers from the Wizard of Oz. See the post for that painting.

Was there ever anyone as good as Gene Kelly? I think not. He acted, he sang, he danced, he choregraphed and he directed "Singing in the Rain" which also starred Donald O'Conner and Debbie Reynolds. The movie was made in 1952 and IS an American classic in the musical romantic comedy genre.

This painting is a tribute to the iconic scene and dance sequence when he sang in the rain. Nobody like Gene Kelly...
