Manassas Art Guild Visits the Lorton Workhouse

Time for a field trip! A few of the folks from the Manassas Art Guild road-tripped up to Lorton today to tour the art at the Lorton Workhouse. 

I met them at Arches Gallery - which should have been open but wasn't! But there were certainly other galleries to see, so we did. Amazing, amazing, amazing artwork - so much to see! I got to go to 2 of them including the glass one. Big WOW.

I couldn't stay with MAG for the entire visit - I was scheduled to work at Clearbrook Center of the Arts. But the ladies came to see Clearbrook a little later in the day!

The Trouble with Tribbles AKA the Minis Are Multiplying

If you are of a certain age, a Star Trek fan or perhaps one of those trivia persons that just plain KNOWS THINGS, you will know the Star Trek episode called, "The Trouble with Tribbles". The purring, furry, fluffy little critters that multiplied faster than a rabbit can wiggle its nose. 

"The Trouble with Tribbles" aired December 29, 1967 in Season 2 Episode 15 and was a classically humorous show in the series with Kirk, Spock and crew dealing with the Tribble issues and Klingons.

My mini paintings are multiplying almost as fast.

Well, I had a box of 100 3x4 mini canvases I found on sale at Jerry's Artarama earlier in the year. The thought was that they would make great Christmas gifts. And I've sold some. I just keep on painting more minis but there just seems to still be plenty of them in the box. I'm thinking they are multiplying...

Post 208: After the Art Show: Fall Gallery Walk Manassas, VA November 5, 2021

Fall Gallery Walk in Manassas, Virginia

Manassas, Virginia has a First Friday celebration each month that was apparently hit hard during 2020 and some of 2021 but it picked right back up again Friday, November 5th, 2021 with artists and art groups strategically placed all about Center Street in Manassas, Virginia. Follow the balloons to see the art, and they did.

LOTS of people came out to see and have fun that evening from 6 to 9 pm and many came by CenterFuse where the Manassas Art Guild (MAG) members were set up with their art. It was a great evening meeting and talking with the visitors that came by (and to buy) art from the artists on display.

When I Meet You in Heaven

When I meet you in heaven

You may not know who I am when I meet you.

You may not remember who I was.

You were my mother, or

You were my father.

I was a part of you both.

At the time, I was not wanted, or

My life wasn't to be.

There may have been sorrow,

There may have been relief.

I never got to be held.

I was only measured as a blip,

Maybe an inconvenience.

Then, I never saw the light of day.

I'm glad to meet you now,

Here in heaven.

So you can see who I was meant to be.

I'm very happy to meet you in heaven,

I am the child that choice made not happen,

The life that life was not granted.

The life that could not hold on.

I am very glad your choice brought you here.

This was a thought I had today, even in my life. For those who lost a child perhaps early in their pregnancy or for those that chose to end that pregnancy. Life begins at conception and abortion is NOT contraception.
