1/18/21 Final tweaking happening now but this is very close to IT. This was a smaller canvas, 11x14, but I really want to do a larger version of a rolling ocean soon. I think ocean artwork speaks to most people, how about you?

I'm really going to need to work on better photographs too. My cell phone does not do any of my painting justice - the colors are far more intense in person.

It is still a destination upon graduation for some, a weekend for others, and home for some lucky persons like some cousins I have. 

It was my first look at the ocean many years ago - it does make you think about the world - looking out as far as you can see...

My second commissioned painting in a month!!

Painting in Progress Images…

The gesso phase of a canvas is just UNINTERESTING but a necessary step. Even when the quality canvases have "primed 3 times" on them, well, I'm still priming it. The paint sits better on the canvas, the surface isn't so grainy. So I'm not doing a picture of a white canvas getting gesso'd with white gesso. Sort of wax on wax off. Fairly boring. Gesso, watch it dry, gesso, watch it dry.

More to come...I'm watching gesso drying...

1-10-2021 "rough draft" - the point is get a basic idea of placement and start filling in

1-11-2021 it is starting to look like something

1-11-2021 long way to go but the stars of the show are starting make an appearance

This one really pops out at you - photorealism. I suppose some artists are rather fond of some paintings over others and I think this one is a favorite now. 

The black painted background really makes the terracotta pot stand out along with the pink African Violets and the green, yellow leaves with their deep maroon, purple undersides.

My new DL Art coffee cup as a reference for size is not included.
